How does Canterbury Food Bank work?
Stacks Image 24
  • Specific tinned and packaged food is donated by local community
  • Volunteers sort and pack the food into emergency parcels
  • Parcels contain enough food to last for three days
  • Support agencies give a food voucher to people in crisis
  • Canterbury Food Bank vouchers are exchanged for a food parcel at regular distribution centres
  • Tea, coffee and refreshments are offered when picking up a food parcel, in addition to the opportunity to talk to one of our volunteers
  • Volunteers listen and signpost people to further support if requested
  • As we are a Christian organisation, there will also be the opportunity for people to request prayer
