Canterbury Food Bank is working in partnership with Whitstable Umbrella Centre to offer a new service to people in need in Whitstable.
The 'Soup Cellar' will be entirely run by volunteers and will offer a free bowl of homemade nutritious soup one day a week. As well as enjoying a bowl of soup, visitors can get information about other support services available in the community. The venture is being supported by the St Vincent de Paul Society, Whitstable fruit and veg shop Granny Smiths and the local Co-operative store.
Soup Cellar will open operates every Wednesday from 12pm to 2pm at Whitstable Umbrella Centre, Oxford Street, Whitstable (below St Mary’s Hall).
Angela Gardiner, Coordinator of Canterbury Food Bank, says: “The Soup Cellar will be a valuable resource for anyone in Whitstable who needs a nourishing meal, some company or advice. The volunteers involved have been fantastic and we look forward to working together with our partners on this exciting new project.”
The Soup Cellar is open to everyone and the soup will be free. Anyone wishing to support the project financially can do so via our PayPal link on the Giving
