An opportunity to make a difference to individuals and families in short term financial crisis across the Canterbury City Council District. Canterbury Food Bank CIO (CFB) is a community project and registered charity providing emergency (three-day) food parcels to individuals and families in short term financial crisis across the Canterbury City Council District (Canterbury, Whitstable, Herne Bay and surrounding villages). CFB has been operating since 2012 and currently has 6 Trustees from a variety of backgrounds. The Charity is looking for additional volunteers to join the Board of Trustees. CFB is keen to hear from people with skills in relevant areas including but not limited to, PR (including social media), Health and Safety, Fundraising and IT who are interested in joining this exciting and rewarding project. The Trustees meet for about one and a half hours once each month and a volunteer will need approximately 6 hours each month to devote to CFB Trustee work. The Trustees have ultimate responsibility for the Governance of the Charity. If you would like to find out more about this opportunity please contact our Treasurer, Graham Bough on email@example.com Canterbury Food Bank Van Drivers
We are looking for volunteers who can drive the CFB van and be part of the rota. Van driving days are generally Tuesday when the van goes to our distribution cafes, Wednesdays when the van picks up food donations and Fridays again for the distribution cafes. It wouldn’t necessarily be every week as we have a rota system. The diesel van is a Citroen Relay 35 L3 H2 120 Enterprise Van. It is 6 metres long, 2.5 metres wide and 2.5 metres high. Previous experience of van driving, minibus driving or driving larger vehicles would be essential, however no special driving licence is required. The van driver would also be required to help pack the van with food parcels and unload at the distribution cafes, and also assist in emptying the donation bins.
Canterbury Food Bank - Van Driver Assistants
Canterbury Food Bank requires volunteers to assist the van driver with manoeuvres. The driver assistant would accompany the van driver and help when manoeuvring the van and reversing. No driving is required, this is visual assistance. The assistant would also be required to help pack and unpack the food parcels from the van and assist in emptying the donation bins.
Volunteer team leaders needed for our ‘Soup Cellar’ project in Whitstable
The ‘Soup Cellar’ is a project in Whitstable serving free homemade soup. We are looking for volunteers to join our team on a Wednesday between 10.30 and 2.30 at the Umbrella Centre in Whitstable. Volunteers would help oversee sessions one or two weeks each month. This will include writing the rota, overseeing the volunteers who are cooking and serving and being a point of contact for the project volunteers. Please get in touch with Kath on firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or to arrange a visit.
Training and support will be given.
Volunteers needed for our Hampton distribution cafe
We are looking for volunteers to join our team at the Hampton distribution cafe, St Andrews Church, Hampton Pier Avenue, Herne Bay on a Tuesday between 12.30 and 2. Not necessarily every Tuesday as we operate a rota system. You would work with another volunteer to help process the food bank vouchers, offer a listening ear, help with signposting, give out the food parcels and generally provide a friendly welcoming environment.
No previous experience is necessary as training and support will be given.
