I have been volunteering at Canterbury Food Bank for a number of years. During this time I have met some lovely people at the warehouse and have enjoyed giving something back to our community.

I wish the Foodbank wasn’t necessary. I support it because I think children going to bed hungry is the worst thing in the world, and shouldn’t happen in any civilised country. I’m sorry I can’t do much to help at present, being over 70, and feel frustrated that some of the things I do to raise money, like fundraising dinners, won’t be possible until we have a vaccine. I can still raise some money by selling my surplus plants, and people are very generous.

I volunteer because I want to help people who are in a financial crisis. A situation that any of us can find ourselves in. I've also learnt new skills and met some lovely people.
